Spanish Intermediate Level 2

Course Overview

This course takes you a step further on everyday topics in Spanish such as talking about the weather, daily routines, hobbies, jobs and occupations and more.

This course will make use of basic vocabulary and grammar from the beginners and intermediate 1 courses as well as introducing new concepts. Spanish phrases and idioms will be introduced to foster an understanding of peoples and cultures in Spanish speaking countries. All lessons are interactive with vocabulary, grammar and speaking and listening activities.

The prerequisite for this course is the completion of three terms of Spanish (or approximately 48 hours of prior instruction).

Course Breakdown

Week 1: The weather in Spanish: Verbs and expressions

Week 2: Eating at home, eating out. Extended use likes and dislikes.

Week 3: Sports and recreational activities

Week 4: Places and cities to visit. Adjectives to describe places 

Week 5: Jobs, professions, occupations and hobbies

Week 6: Daily routines: common mistakes in Spanish. More about conjugation of reflexive and non-reflexive verbs

Week 7: Describing clothes in Spanish: Patterns, style, colour, materials, texture; etc. Shopping for Clothes 

Week 8: Past events and past experiences. Use of verbs in the past tense

Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Confidently ask for help and directions when visiting a new Spanish speaking country
  • Have basic conversations in Spanish about a range of everyday topics
  • Speak more fluently using extended vocabulary and grammar in everyday conversations
